Harry and I were creative partners at an ad agency. He was an art director. I was a copywriter.

Harry: i’m making a lime curd tart.

Fred: I’m making a list of things that don’t spoil so I can stock up in case of complete economic collapse. So far all I have is charcoal and aluminum foil.

Harry: those two compliment each other with a nice chardonay

UPDATE: If I’d have thought harder, I might have come up with, “I’m making a lime turd cart.”

They are discussing, by the way, a case that has so far been pretty much ignored by fossil media, the DOJ’s New Black Panther voter intimidation case. The hearings were videotaped and include tasty, tragi-comic nuggets like this. It’s very much like British comedy.

At some Golden Pantry convenience stores the gas pumps broadcast to the gas pumping customer a litany of specials available within the linoleum wonderland of the Gold Pantry shopping experience. On those chatty gas pumps is a button with which the customer can choose not to enjoy the adventure of a gas pumping cross-sell pitch.

The button, as you can see by the decisive, fingertip shaped cracks in the lamination, is very, very popular.

You have to wonder if at-store radio commercials are a plus or a minus.

I deposited money in my bank account at 9:30 this morning.

ME: When will this deposit be in my account?

TELLER: Tonight after midnight.

ME: That’s tomorrow.

TELLER: Correct.

You will just have to imagine my facial expression that concluded this exchange. As the day progressed, I had to ask myself why I entrust my money with anyone would say “tonight after midnight.” And now, at 12:15 as I checked my account, I notice the deposit is still not there. What bank, you ask? It rhymes with “Walk over ya.”
